Khoodeelaar! told you so! That the ‘CrossRail scam’ was crass. It is crass. Each and every single utterance of its promotion is crass. Why? Because it is being peddled by the Big Business interests who want to pocket huge loots in the name of the project and from the UK public. Crossrail is also crass because the same lobby interests who are hostile to democratic audit of public funds and facilities are promoting it. Crossrail is crass because it is being promoted at the expense of transport. Transport infrastructure that is crumbling in and around London. That infrastructure needs more attention than a new scam contrived by the Big Business to make fast and unedited bucks. Unaudited? Yes, unaudited. Who ever audited the £100 million that Alistair Darling [then fronting the DAFT, 'UK Department for Transport' that has been the touting outfit in Whitehall operating the scam for Big Business] gave away from the UK public to CLRL in 2005? Has anyone seen any audit of where that money went? Who actually took how many £millions by way of bonuses YEARS before bonuses hit the headlines?

Galloway Party Blasts latest Crossrail hole lies by controlling clique on Tower Hamlets Council
A khoodeelaaronline report
at [1845 Hrs GMT] 1945 Hrs London Time Tuesday 28 March 2006
George Galloway’s Tower Hamlets RESPECT coalition breaks silence on Michael Keith’s repeated assertions that George Galloway backed away from an electoral fight with Keith at the 4 May 2006 council election in the Shadwell ward in London’s East End.– This is contained in a Khoodeelaaronline report compiled this evening [London Tuesday 28 March 2006] in view of the latest lies that Michael Keith’s clique has been spreading [through the ‘EAST END LIES’ and via bribery and abuse linked with the clique’s access to ‘current powers’ on Tower Hamlets Council to make ‘ethnicity-linked financial grants to ‘community groups’ which are situated in parts of the Brick Lane London E1 area] about the London mayor’s pro-Crossrail-hole stunt on Friday [24 March 2006] saying that the threatened Big Crossrail hole in the Brick Lane London E1 area was off.

In the interview with khoodeelaaronline, Bethnal Green and Bow Member of Parliament
George Galloway’s RESPECT Coalition says that the Khoodeelaar! campaign against the CrossRail hole has brought about the latest U-turn by the Crossrail-hole-pushing interests.

Speaking to Khoodeelaronline from the RESPECT coalition’s office in Club Row [which is within a quarter of Mile off the Brick Lane spot targeted for the CrossRail hole until the U-turn, RESPECT spokesperson Rob Hoveman branded Tower Hamlets Council LIES about ‘their “campaign against the hole” as ridiculous and contemptible

Hoveman also said that Crossrail-hole-pusher Michael Keith [who is the ‘leader’ of the controlling clique at Tower Hamlets Council] was destined for the electoral dustbin.

Asked if the RESPECT coalition were optimistic about Michael Keith’s imminent electoral disappearance from Shadwell, Rob Hoveman said , “ We are very confident” that Michael Keith was a goner come the day after the scheduled 4 May 2006 election.

The Brick Land London E1 Area camapopagn against the CrossRail hole “plan, scheme, project” Bill

Index of the latest Campaign reports commentaries and updates at 0700 Hrs GMT 28 March 2006

1. Why is the Crossrail-hole-touting controlling clique on Tower Hamlets Council [East London] lying on about the CrossRail hole?

The first part of the KHOODEELAARonline report is due to be published here at 1000 Hrs GMT Tuesday 28 March 2006

That KHOODEELAARonline report will also include an examination of the latest lying antics of the identifiable members of the CrossRail-hole-touting clique on the London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

2. We shall also update during the day Tuesday 28 March 2006 our reporting on the criminal abuse of public cash by the Crossrail-hole-touting clique in abusing the ‘Council’ propaganda title ‘EAST END LIES’ this week to perpetrate even more pernicious insidious lies at the expense of the people in the East London borough of Tower Hamlets.
3. Revised Khoodeelaar! legal claims against Alistair Darling and Ken Livingstone, Christine Gilbert, Michael Keith, Owen Whalley et al

_________________________________________________________________
KHOODEELAAR! QUESTIONS to ‘ethnic’ ‘language’ [!] publications in London E1 area [and in E2] which have published lies and falsehoods for ‘Michael Keith’ on Crossrail hole.
These questions are reinforced by the facts of the latest lies for Michael Keith that have been published in the following ‘ethnic language publications’ on Monday 27 March 2006
[Khoodeelaar legal note on the definition of ‘published’. In the factual and evidential context of this matter and material, the word ‘published’ means published in the given ‘publication’ which was found to be in circulation in the relevant area on the day in question irrespective of whether the date of the publication of that title is said to be 27 March 2006 or not
Questions on the accuracy of 'news' and 'comment' pieces published about ‘Tower Hamlets Council’ role on Crossrail hole
The ‘titles’ are: - Published in ‘Bangla’
1. Notun Din [weekly] – Published from a postal address in the London E1 area
2. Surma [weekly] Published from a postal address in the London E1 area

3. Janomot [weekly] Published from a postal address in the London E1 area

4. Euro Bangla [weekly] Published from a postal address in the London E1 area

5. Potrika [weekly] Published from a postal address in the London E1 area

Published in English

6. Bangla Mirror [weekly] Published from a postal address in the London E2 area

The QUESTIONS:
7. Why have you published ‘news’ and ‘comment’ pieces in the last 10 weeks which have contained direct assertions or explicit implications to the effect that either the current controlling clique on Tower Hamlets Council or its ‘leader’ ‘councillor’ Michael Keith has done anything at all to OPPOSE the Crossrail hole plan in relation to the Brick Lane London E1 Area?

8. What evidence have you to support the headlines, the presentations on the FrontPages and on the leading pages of your publication of the name and or the alleged achievement against the CrossRail hole plan of the current controlling clique on Tower Hamlets Council or its ‘leader’ ‘councillor’ Michael Keith?

9. Why have you not published in your ‘news’ publication the chapter and verse of any alleged evidence to support your promotion of the image of the current controlling clique on Tower Hamlets Council or its ‘leader’ ‘councillor’ Michael Keith?

10. Why have you not published the name and the title of any alleged document allegedly produced by the fully legally constituted entity of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets Council allegedly showing the alleged opposition to the Crossrail hole Bill by the said controlling clique on Tower Hamlets Council or its ‘leader’ ‘councillor’ Michael Keith?

11. Isn’t the fact that you have not published any evidence or any credible or evident reference to any accessible or producible evidence in support of the publication in your title of the falsehoods for the controlling clique on Tower Hamlets Council and its ‘leader’ ‘councillor’ Michael Keith PROOF of and because of there being no such evidence that you COULD produce even if you had been motivated by unethical factors so to publish?

12. Why shouldn’t the community in the Brick Lane London E1 area condemn your collusion with the corrupt clique on Tower Hamlets Council on the facts of your deliberate, intentional publication of lies about the whole role of the corrupt clique that almost sunk our community down the Crossrail hole?

13. Why should you be allowed to publish lies for the liars and deprive the community of the benefit of the true facts of what the clique has done and how we the Khoodeelaar! Campaigned against the CrossRail hole plan scheme project Bill have campaigned against the very perpetrators and their perpetrations of the past 27 months and why we have been forced by your 'publishing' behaviour to even issue this questionnaire and other procedural actions against you?

14. Do you ‘in your attitude and in your understanding and in your ordinary perceptions’ belong to this local community in the East End or do you belong in some other place? If you do belong to our community then you must realise that you owe the basic decency to tell your alleged readers the facts of what the CrossRail hole threat our community had involved under the corrupt conspiratorial plots hatched against our community by the controlling clique on Tower Hamlets Council and you must tell the truth about what remains of that plot linked with the CrossRail hole plans that our East End community still faces. You must start by stopping to publish any more lies for the corrupt clique on Tower Hamlets Council or for its ‘leader’ ‘councillor’ Michael Keith. If you fail to publish the truth and if you continue to publish lies then you cannot be surprised if we refer your behaviour first to the Press Complaints Commission and failing that, to a court of Law in the UK. Do you understand this?

15. We first issued this broad notice against your behaviour on 14 March 2006 at a Khoodeelaar! News Conference held at an address in Brick lane London E1. Some of those who were present at that News Conference included some of your ‘staff’ or ‘correspondents. None of what we had said then [14 March 2006] appeared accurately in the relevant editions of your ‘publications’ that were published on dates after our announcement of 14 March 2006. Why did you fail to publish what we announced about your conduct concerned?

16. We made substantially the same comment with additional illustrations at our Khoodeelaar! Manifesto 2006 Seminar held on 19 March 2006. You failed to publish any of that. Why?

17. We have counted the number of times that your ‘publication’ was actually printed between January 2004 and 21 January 2006. You NEVER published a single item at all about any of the key facts or issues or implications of the Crossrail hole plan against our community across the Brick Lane London E1 area. That is, of almost 100 weekly editions, you never found a single week in which to publish the news of our campaign against the CrossRail holed plan assault on the East Ends. What, then, were you printing? Was it ‘news’? If so, for whom? How many ‘news’ items on any of your front pages or how many ‘comments’ in any of those 100 editions of your ‘ethnic language’ publications had you cared to actually tell the truth about what is [and has been] probably the single largest physical assault planned against any section of any settled ‘multi-ethnic’ community anywhere in the whole of Western Europe? Why did you suppress the facts of that assault until after 17 January 2006 when the Khoodeelaar! campaign holds its then latest demonstration in the Brick Lane area against the first sitting on that day of the UK House of Commons Select committee on the Crossrail hole Bill? Do you even know what we have been talking about? We KNOW that you don’t. If you did, you would have had reports about those events. You never do. Why?

London 2050 Hrs GMT Monday 27 March 2006

1. The updated summary of legal claims against Alistair Darling will be posted here in the next 24 hours
2. The contents of the final questionnaires to the ‘ethnic’ ‘newspapers’ that have published untrue and false claims over Crossrail giving ‘cr4edit’ to the perpetrators on Tower Hamlets Council for allegedly relieving the community of the very CrossRail hole thereat that the perpetrators have been causing and still have not given up on. This will be also the de facto equivalent of the pre-action legal action notice on the ‘ethnic language’ publications.
3. Questions that we have put to George Galloway MP about his RESPECT coalition and its undertakings on Crossrail hole attacks on our community
4. Why the ‘petitions’ to UK parliament over the contents of the CrossRail hole Bill are not going to make any significant difference for the communities targeted for devastation by the Crossrail Hole Bill
5. Who is Mike Gapes, MP who ‘congratulated Tower Hamlets Council’ twice on the ‘Politics Show' on BBC1 on Sunday 26 March 2006

From the last edition of Khoodeelaardotcom:

How the sinking ‘careers’ of the present corrupt, Crossrail-hole-clique on Tower Hamlets Council also contaminated and displaced an ethical standard that should have been established in the BBC London studio where the crassness of the Crossrail plugger Mike Gapes was allowed to be exhibited with no dignified restraint put on him.

The clique did that by proxy.

By the oozing appearance on the show of Mike Gapes [More on his crass role for CrossRail in a later edition]

This took place in the broadcast package on ‘Crossrail’ this afternoon on BBC1 in their weekend POLITICS SHOW which itself was fronted by John Sopel.

Sopel had introduced the Blair DPM John Prescott in the context of the latest allegation of Sleaze as reported in some of the day’s [Sunday] papers.

In the course of that interview, Sopel stated a few times that that interview had resulted from
The call made by Prescott to the BBC.

What followed that statement did not address the question that arsis: Should the BBC ‘Politics Show’ or any other factual programme offer a platform to a Minister only because they received a call from that minister o r one from that Minister’s behalf?

Where will it end?

Should’ the BBC generally and the POLITICS SHOW on the matter of the crass Crossrail adventure in particular, have made can effort to get the facts of the matter across to the viewers

Shouldn’t’ they have pointed out?

Why didn’t the BBC ask Mike |Gapes to substantiate his embarrassing and undignified propensity to twice congratulate Tower Hamlets Council?

Was the BBC under instructions –as it is reported to be so often including as recounted by its former ‘Editor in Chief’, Greg Dyke – to be soft on the Blair regime and on those who are the regime lackeys in areas like the East End of London?

These questions must be asked because of the BBC’s failure to report on the campaign against the CrossRail hole over the past 27 months.

The only time that the BBC editorial decision-makers thought they could ‘concede’ any
Space or time to anyone op[posing the crass project was in July 2004 when they sent a London news crew to a meeting only because it was being addressed by the Blaring MP Oona King and a group of Crossrail-plugging holders of ‘elected’ office.

The BBC did not report on the strength of the arguments against the Crassrail hole plan nor did it show just how uneconomical, anti-social, undemocratic the Crossrail project was

In the time between July 2004 and 24 March 2006, the BBC were sent several hundred transmissions of news and facts and evidence by and on behalf of the Khoodeelaar! campaign.

The BBC must show that they operated on an ethical basis when they showed a very small part of the interviews with Khoodeelaar and gave far too much time and space to the pluggers for Crassrail.

If those plugs had substance backed up with evidence that could have been a different matter.

But the BBC package did not contain that.

And the rest of the BBC factual programme making seems to be following the same line – that the Crossrail plug is believable.

We say it is not.
We say that the Crossrail pluggers must be examined and made to produce evidence to substantiate each of their key arguments.

We say that the BBC publish an explanation of why they thought that only because those in the studio ‘discussion’ had tags of ‘MPs’ attached to their names so therefore they knew the facts of what the CrossRail scheme was or that they had more legitimacy to be given more space on the programme and in the package than the Khoodeelaar! campaign.

Published in the last edition of Khoodeelaardotcom:

Khoodeelaar 1st response to and comments on BBC TV POLITICS SHOW Sunday 26 March 2006-03-26

That programme had its entire London Edition given to the subject of Crossrail hole Bill.

This is the first of the Khoodeelaar! Comment and responses:

By Muhammad Haque
Organiser, Khoodeelaar!

I noticed that on the BBC1 ‘Politics Show’ shown on Sunday 26 March 2006, the Blairing MP Mike Gapes [Ill-fraud] [this is a new word I have just coined for this edition of Khoodeelaardotcom at 1348 Hrs GMT on Monday 27 March 2006] managed to ‘congratulate Tower Hamlets Council’ TWICE in the broadcast package on the CrossRail hole Bill scheme and he was not quizzed on that brazen plug for a very discredited clique which we had found on the facts had been playing a touting role in bringing the Crossrail hole attacks on our community.

Mike Gapes failed to substantiate that oozing eagerness to congratulate the clique. He also failed to mention the fact that on 19 July 2005 he had made assertions in plugging the Crossrail Bill in the House of Commons that were not substantiated cannot be substantiated and have not been substantiated.

The package included references to the grant of £100 million by the Secretary of State in December 2005 and the nearly £40 Million being spent each year on planning.

What evidence was there that that money was being spent for the benefit of the people in London?

Why didn’t the programme give any details about what the money was being spent on and what auditing supervision and accountability?

The programme also jumped to ‘what about the rest of the cost’ part, without examine the relevance of Crossrail in the context of the UK national economy and without giving any space to any examination of what London’s transport system was currently costing the public.

We have opposed the CrossRail hole Bill BOTH on the devastating effects it would cause to vast areas in the East End and also on the fundamental engineering, environmental, economic flaws inherent in the entire Bill. Your programme did not even pretend to examine those. It also allowed the ‘MPs’ to say superficial things without pressing them or asking them to examine the overall transport framework in the UK, in London and beyond

It also failed to question the untruth that causing devastation to the East End equalled bringing benefits. It did not ask what the correlation was between the CrossRail 'plan, scheme, project' in relation to the existing transport infrastructure in London and what only one of the MPs included on your programme [we note that inclusion], George Galloway identified CrossRail plan as a commuter line.

These are, in very brief terms, some of the faults in the factual contents and presentation of the issue as broadcast today Sunday 26 March 2006.

Khoodeelaar! daily publishes the campaign details as well as reports on related matters on the Khoodeelaardotcom in defence of the community and against the Crossrail hole plans scheme project Bill.

Over the past 27 months, we have created and published hundreds of reports covering every single engineering, economic incremental, social, democracy-related aspects of the Crossrail plan.

We are putting this comment on to the BBC web site for the record. We expect that the BBC would not suppress this comment and that they would allow a full-scale debate on the evidence to take place on all the BBC networks, outlets and publications.

Our web site will have updated versions and follow up s to this comment and to any other relevant item either shown or aired or published - directly or in effect - by the BBC

Khoodeelaar! campaign analysis- some urgent questions, issues and announcements 1030 Hrs GMT London Sunday 26 March 2006

Why have we delayed our report on the role played by the political groupings and parties on the current Tower Hamlets Council over the CrossRail hole attacks on the East End?

Answer: because the ‘parties’ and the ‘groups’ [which are at the time of writing, the Blaired Labour Party, the Conservative Party, the Liberal Democratic Party, the RESPECT Coalition] have not made any statement that has addressed the more than 100 questions that we have published and put to them over the past 27 months.

It is for that reason that we decided to give the groupings and parties [listed above] a period of time just before the scheduled 4 May 2006 council elections to reflect on their record and to address the questions.

We have also found that contrary to the ‘interest’ shown by the ‘groupings’ and ‘parties’ in the matter of the CrossRail hole threat to the East End, they have not made any detailed documentary analysis of the threat.

Why is that so?

The answer can only be because they do not operated on the basis of defending the community. Not when that takes precedence over the careers of those within the groupings and parties.

If there is any other reason then the groupings are hereby being asked one final time to substantiate with legitimate reason why they have not made the statements that they should have made but they have not made.

What could that statement contain that is not contained in the information that they have made available or the information that is available about their role/s?

Answer: for a start, [a] they could say if they have opposed the CrossRail Hole plan in their actions as councillors or as groups of councillors within the Tower Hamlets Council, on the Tower Hamlets Council and as being represented on the Tower Hamlets Council.

The second part of what we have asked them to show – on the facts and nothing but facts –
Is that [b] they must tell us what occasion it was that they opposed the CrossRail hole plan and how they made that known out in the community in the context of the past 27 months of the khoodeelaar ! No to CrossRail hole campaign.

For 27 months, we have made the most explicit series of demands backed up by continuing, ongoing original research into the entire CrossRail scheme and we have done this in a way that neither the Council nor any party nor the Department for Transport nor the CrossRail Company has done in any way whatever. We challenge those organisations on this factual statement. WE challenge them to provide facts to contradict this statement and this Khoodeelaar! Record.

For 27 months, we have asked the most extensive questions of all the holders of all key positions on the Tower Hamlets Council about their conduct in the context of the CrossRail hole.

We have published materials and information in print and on the internet as well as on video.

We have done that against the fact that the corrupt clique on Tower Hamlets Council has abused the access it has to the coffers of the Council to spend the community’s money in bribing certain locally distributed ‘newspapers’.

We have not seen any single mention by these groupings on the Council about any of that.

We have initiated every single disclosure of every single act of corruption by the controlling clique on Tower Hamlets Council.

If these ‘groupings’ are saying that they have been opposing the hole set of Crossrail-hole-corrupt and undemocratic and unaccountable behaviour by the controlling clique on Tower Hamlets Council then we are asking them, this very final time to let us know where they have done that and how they have done that.

We are utterly opposed to corruption sleaze and undemocratic tactics, policies and practices within ALL groups and parties and we have surprising discolours to make about how the current corrupt clique on the Council has been using as political –electoral decoys a significant number of ‘candidates’ and ‘members’ of the ‘opposition’ groups and groupings.

We shall disclose soon how certain ‘leading’ Opposition members on Tower Hamlets Council may in fact have been being used to protect the key interprets and the 'careers as a Councillor' of a number of the current clique in ‘control’ of Tower Hamlets Council.

The Khoodeelaar! Report
Part 2
In response to the reported ‘announcement by London Mayor Ken Livingstone of the Crossrail hole tunnel in the Brick Lane Area’ being ABANDONED as in ‘scrapped’

By Muhammad Haque
1825 Hrs GMT
Brick Lane London E1 Area
Saturday 25 March 2006

This constitutes the Khoodeelaar! Legal and campaign position statement London Saturday 25 March 2006

[Continued from 1350 Hrs GMT Saturday 25 March 2006 – which had 11 numbered items. The following items will be added to the final report that will be published in full at 0900 Hrs GMT here on Monday 27 March 2006]

1. That Ken Livingstone [‘Mayor of London’] has made the announcement accepting the main arguments of the Khoodeelaar! Campaign is not, of course, expressly recognised or admitted in the contents of the news release which was secretively released to a very small number of people in the UK on Friday 24 March 2006 on Livingstone’s behalf. That is typical of the low standard of ‘ethnics’ that is found all the way across Ken Livingstone's entire ‘London-based--personally-lucrative-'political'-career’. He has no moral courage to admit that he was wrong about Crossrail from start to finish. He has no moral courage to admit that he was extremely immoral and undemocratic when he tried to brand the entire community in the East End as ‘purchasable bribable’ with ’ethnicity-linked;’ grants and offers of concessionary rates on business premises etc which he said in 2005 would be made available to ‘ethnic minorities’ if they cooperated with the Crossrail hole tunnel being dug in the Brick Lane London E1 area.
2. That he has made the about turn is more to do with the pact he has had – the devil’s pact - to do his bit to salvage the sleaze-sunk career of Tony Blair is obvious. Because the hole Crassrail adventure has been, despite the FT’s idiotic suggestion which I have partly dissected in the last 72 hours, exposed as a conceptual fraud and because of the evaporation of any ground for the Big Business , Crossrail-building-fanatics and looters of the public cash [under the pretexts of ‘building a world class transport system’ – one of the obscenely phrases that has been given wide publicity by the limited-horizon London-based over-greedy holders of publicly-paid-for 'elected' offices] after we drew attention to the corrupt behaviour of every singe local tout in the East End who has had anything to do with the selling of the crass CrossRail hole idea over the last five years to the community it has targeted for demolition down the Crossrail hole.
3. What we are now demanding is that Livingstone come totally clean and scrap whatever remains of the callously conceived hole, tunnel attacks on the East End under the grotesquely ghastly uneconomic, unwanted, unjustified CrossRail hole attack. We are asking Alistair DARLING to do the same.
4. We are saying that if either fails to do their best and their duties to complete the task of scrapping the current crossrail hole plan the process immediately and without any prevarication, diversion or dissembling on any aspect of the crassly conceived CrossRail hole – the rational AND the logical task of scrapping the entire Crossrail hole attacks on the East end then the legal action and other lawful campaign programme that we had been scheduled to start on Monday 27 March 2006 wandf which we have temporarily deferred in light of the stunt staged by ken Livingstone on the eve of our campaign activities concerned, will be expanded and will be continued until the hole awful assault plan is totally ands actually scrapped.
5. We have separately asked Transport Secretary Alistair Darling to re-draft the CrossRail Bill, if he still is intent on a Crossrail line of the description that the current Bill resembles and symbolises.
6.

How the Khoodeelaar! Community campaign against the Crassrail hole forced London Mayor Ken Livingstone to make the statement on Crossrail hole!

That report has now been delayed until after the first Khoodeelaar! detailed response is published in full. This Khoodeelaar! response will now be published over two days concluding on Sunday 26 March 2006

The Khoodeelaar! Report

By Muhammad Haque
1300 Hrs GMT
Brick Lane London E1 Area
Saturday 25 March 2006

1. Ken Livingstone’s stunt announcement was made only a day before the court actions initiated by Khoodeelaar against Transport Secretary Alistair Darling were due to begin in London!.
2. The series of court actions would have been based in a significant way on the contents of the hybrid Crossrail Bill hole attacks on the Brick Lane London E1 area.
3. With the announced abandonment of the main Crassrail hole assault on the Brick Lane London E1 area, the factual bases of any legal claims against the Secretary of Sate and against all other relevant promoters of the Crossrail hole have changed.
4. The changed factual bases will now be considered in the context of the announced abandonment of the main Crossrail hole assault on the Brick Lane London E1 area.
5. Khoodeelaar! has now sent formal request to London mayor Ken Livingstone and to the Transport Secretary Alistair Darling to provide the full contents of the abandonment of the Crossrail hole plan as contained in the announcement made by and in the name of London Mayor Ken Livingstone.
6. As soon as Khoodeelaar! is able to compare the present CrossRail hole assault plans with the announced abandonment of the Crossrail hole plans, we shall make the appropriate statment as to what other part/s of the CrossRail hole plans remains or remain to be scrapped, abandoned and disposed of and dealt with.
7. Khoodeelaar! is now making specific requests for the disclosure of those fuller facts to us in our latest representation to Alistair Darling MP the Secretary of State for Transport and in our communication to the London mayor and to the Greater London Assembly.
8. Khoodeelaar! does not accept the report about the announcement, as carried on the web site of the ‘East London Advertiser’ on 24 March 2006.
9. Khoodeelaar! rejects the statement in the ‘East London Advertiser’ website as published on 24 March 2006 that the announced abandonment of the Crossrail hole assault on the Brick Lane London E1 area was in any rational or reasonable or factual way positively linked with any alleged lobbying for that result by a person called the Tower Hamlets Councillor Michel Keith.
10. Khoodeelaar! position has been, from the start of our campaign against the Crossrail hole in January 2004, that it is the same Tower Hamlets Councillor Michael Keith who had played a key role as a strategically placed tout or agent for the Crossrail hole assaults plan and strategy on the East End.
11. Khoodeelaar! has already notified the Press Complaints Commission [1 Salisbury Square, London EC4, UK] of our intention initially to challenge the assertions as published on the ‘East London Advertiser’ website and of our policy determination that we shall file a full formal complaint if that same suggestion is published in the print edition of the ‘East London Advertiser’ which is due to be published on Thursday 30 March 2006.
Texts of the ‘East London Advertiser’ web site item as published on that ‘local paper’s web site’ on 24 March 2006 and still on display at 1730 Hrs GMT on Saturday 25 March 2006, is quoted below for the record

Crossrail controversial tunnel plan set to be scrapped
24 March 2006
EXCLUSIVE
By Ted Jeory
CONTROVERSIAL plans to dig a massive tunnelling shaft for Crossrail in the Brick Lane area have been sensationally scrapped, the Advertiser can reveal.
Mayor Ken Livingstone and Transport Secretary Alistair Darling are set to announce today (Friday) that hugely controversial proposals to bore under Hanbury Street in Spitafields will no longer go ahead.
At a stroke, much of the feared environmental damage in the Spitafields and Mile End areas will be wiped out.
It is being seen as a victory for Tower Hamlets council leader Michael Keith who has been lobbying senior government figures for the change.
Until today, Cross London Rail Links - the company behind the £16billion Crossrail ‘super-tube’ linking east and west London - wanted to dig a huge tunnelling shaft in Hanbury Street.
From there, giant boring machines would have worked their way west to Holborn and east to a new Whitechapel station.
The plan would also have meant digging a spur tunnel to a temporary engineering shaft in nearby Pedley Street from where spoil would have been loaded on to a conveyor belt to be dumped in a storage area in beautiful Mile End Park.
Brick Lane businesses and residents have been outraged, fearing their historic community was under threat.
Some even pledged civil disobedience if the diggers were ever move in.
But today’s announcement could strike out those fears for good.
Under the new deal, which will be considered by the sitting Parliamentary Crossrail committee, the tunnelling shaft will now be located in a remote industrial part of the borough at the Limmo Peninsula in Blackwall.
Diggers will work there way from there to Stepney Green and then on to Whitechapel and Liverpool Street.
Plans for the new stations at Whitechapel and the Isle of Dogs remain the same.
Although there will still need to be a smaller, but still quite large, emergency evacuation and ventilation shaft in the Brick Lane area – probably in Woodseer Street – Cllr Keith hailed the decision as ‘fantastic news’.
He said: “It just shows how the community’s campaign and the council’s actions have combined to have real impact.”

Mayor welcomes new tunnelling proposals for Crossrail

Mayor of London Ken Livingstone has welcomed proposed alterations to the Crossrail tunnelling strategy produced by Cross London Rail Links (CLRL), which would greatly reduce disruption caused by Crossrail’s construction.

The Mayor has received new proposals from CLRL which would eliminate the need to launch Tunnel Boring Machines from Hanbury Street in east London.

The recent work undertaken by CLRL shows that, with a recasting of the construction programme, it is now possible to accommodate the major part of the tunnelling activities from the two Tunnel Boring Machine launch sites already proposed at Royal Oak in west London and between Canary Wharf and Custom House in the Docklands area of east London.

Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone said:

“I am delighted with this revised tunnelling proposal. This is exactly where we want to be with this scheme and this revised tunnelling proposal has my full backing. Crossrail is vital for London’s future prosperity and it will give a tremendous boost to the east London economy. These improvements would significantly reduce the disruption which has been feared in east London.”

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets has previously made representations about the possible impact in the Brick Lane area of the tunnelling.

Under the proposals now put to the mayor the major tunnelling in east London would be launched from a shaft located between Canary Wharf and Custom House and would drive all the way to Farringdon instead of stopping at Isle of Dogs.

In the Brick Lane area in east London, the need for a shaft at Pedley Street would be eliminated, as would the conveyor along the Great Eastern main line. Mile End Park would also no longer be needed as a worksite. The only shaft at Hanbury Street would be for ventilation, but this would be a much smaller structure requiring less work and disruption to the local community.

KHOODEELAAR! Breaking News [3rd Part: 1930 hrs GMT London Friday 24 March 2006]

Why Crossrail-hole-London Mayor Ken Livingstone staged this stunt and announced the end of the big Crossrail hole in the Brick Lane London E1 area

By Muhammad Haque, Organiser, Khoodeelaar! The Brick Lane London E1 Area against the CrossRail hole Bill

1930 Hrs GMT Friday 24 March 2006
Brick Lane London E1 Area

I was asked by a reporter to say if I WAS ‘CELEBRATING;’ THE ANNOUNCVEMENT THAT THE Crossrail hole in the Brick Lane Area was now abandoned by Ken Livingstone, the ‘London mayor’.

I said that I was not in the mood.

I said that in my view, Livingstone was dissembling.

Again.

Why? And how/

Because Livingstone is on record as having backed the very CrossRail hole plan that he has now ‘abadndone4d’.

I know this because for 26 months I have been organising the arguments and the political mobilisation against the CrossRail hole Bill.

Both addressed to the UK House of Commons as well as to the London mayor and to the local tower hamlets Council.

At a crucial stage, Ken Livingstone indulged in the sleaze that he ‘perfected into an art form as the coup-leader on the GLC’.

He promised a generous bout of bribery to many of the people affected by the CrossRail hole.

I shall detail some of the evidence here later.

For today,. Livingstone stunt is to be put in context. While it is a stunt it is also real. As real as political directions can be identified.

And the timing was solely to do with my participation in the constitutional law challenge to Livingstone’s pal Alistair Darling that was due to start at the London high Court on Monday 27 March 2006.

I am partially relieved to note that Livingstone’s retreat has taken place but I am still not sure that Livingstone is realising just how heavy the pressure is going to be on him for a total abandonment of the Crossrail hole attack on our community.

And if the BBC’s report [at the 1830 bulletin today] is anything to go by, the Ken Livingstone stunt and the Crossrail crassness are still evidently being indulged in by the both of them defying their duty – which is to listens the community and give up the planned assault altogether.

As neither has done that, we shall continue to campaign and the campaign does go on Monday with our foiling of the first set of revised claims against the Secretary of State and against Tower Hamlets Council.

No time to ‘celebrate’ the Ken Livingstone ‘news’ that Crossrail hole tunnel plan

In the Brick Lane London E1 area is off

Khoodeelaar! Organiser Muhammad Haque said this afternoon that London Mayor Ken Livingstone's statement today that the CrossRail hole would not be dug in the Brick Lane Area cannot be trusted.

Before we are asked to ‘celebrate’ the victory of the Khoodeelaar! no to the CrossRail hole campaign we must see the full extent and the full evidence of the alleged CrossRail U-turn on the hole.

For 26 months we have asked Crossrail hole promoters to tell the truth about their plans and they have told nothing but lies.

The stunt being staged by Ken Livingstone is nothing more than a pathetic imitation at a genuine stunt. He is 20 years out of date.

KHOODEELAAR! No to Crossrail agenda-stooged role of the two Select Committees in the UK Parliament...

A SERIES of peers claimed hundreds of pounds each day in expenses without asking ministers any questions and rarely participating in the chamber of the House of Lords.

A "value for money" index compiled by the Evening Standard from the latest list of members' expenses reveals which Lords charged taxpayers up to £300 a day "subsistence" despite rarely speaking in the chamber.

The list includes former BBC director general Lord Birt, a crossbencher, who is the highest claiming peer. He claimed on average £296.38 in overnight and day subsistence for each of the 72 days he attended the House between 1 April 2007 and 31 March 2008.

During that year he did not table a single question, spoke in three debates and voted in five per cent of divisions.

There is growing concern over the make-up and role of the House of Lords following allegations that four peers offered to change the law in exchange for cash. Scotland Yard is considering whether the allegations warrant a criminal investigation.

Two of them, Lord Moonie and Lord Snape, who have denied any wrongdoing, feature in the top 30 highest charging peers. Other peers high up the list of expenses claims include former Labour party economic adviser Lord Eatwell, who is president of Queens' College, Cambridge. He tabled no questions, spoke in 10 debates and voted in 18 per cent of divisions last year.

Lord Birt, Lord Eatwell and another crossbencher in the top five highest charging peers, Lord Oxburgh, are all paid for consultancy work outside Parliament. Six former MPs - three Liberal Democrat, two Conservative and one Labour - feature in the top 30 index.

Also included are the Conservatives' shadow lord chancellor Lord Kingsland, the Liberal Democrats' president Baroness Scott and Lord Razzall, the party's business spokesman.

He shares a London home with his partner Baroness Bonham-Carter and they both take full advantage of the living expenses on offer. Their main residence is in Wiltshire.

Trade unionist Lord Burlison, who died last May, topped the index. He was instrumental in starting Tony Blair and Lord Mandelson's political careers, helping to select them as MPs.

The list also details 39 peers who chose not to ask for any money.

Peers can claim up to £165.50 overnight accommodation expenses for each day they attend the House if they register their main home outside Greater London. A member needs to enter the chamber or a committee and be ticked off by a clerk to qualify for this payment, but it does not matter how long they stay or whether they participate.

Peers can push their total overnight subsistence claim higher if they have a second home in London as a parliamentary base. Then they are entitled to up to £110.50 maintenance costs for each night they spend away from London on select committee business. Peers do not incur any expenses on such trips as they are all paid by the select committee.

A day-to-day allowance of up to £82.50 is also available to cover meals and "incidental" travel. The Standard did not include office costs or travel costs in the value for money index. The latter varies according to the location of the member's main residence. All peers are entitled to first-class train tickets and business-class flights as well as generous car mileage. No receipts are required to claim allowances.

Several of the peers in the table live within striking distance of London by car or train, but can claim travel if they live outside Greater London.

Mark Wallace, campaign director of the Taxpayers' Alliance, said: "It's unacceptable that some peers are getting away with claiming huge amounts of taxpayers' money and then doing little or no work in return."

The House of Lords information office said the Lords cost less than a third of what it costs to run the House of Commons per member. Last year each peer cost the taxpayer £168,000 and each MP cost £599,000. None of the peers was available for comment today.

One question.
How do I become a Lord? It seems to be perfect way to top up my oap.

- Colin Macpherson, Gramat France

It is peculiar how some of these lightweights have so many expenses yet ask hardly any questions and appear in the Lords so rarely.

Maybe certain expenses ought to be investigate more closely eg secretarial help and I don't mean family members. Let them be identified; I am sure wives would like to know.

- Michael Waugh, Kensington

This is all part of the REALLY BIG BOYS (and girls) CLUB, isn't it? All in the pig swill together stuffing their gobs with cash. What a disgrace. And we lowly taxpayers are supposed to just take this lying down while our lives are being ruined by the bankers and politicians.

- Alf Bennett, London, England.

The other point to make is that these payments are described as "expenses" and hence tax free!!!! I doubt if the Inland Revenue would allow this to happen anywhere else.

- jeremy E, London

Unelected, unaccountable, good value for money? Hmmm... Don't think so sunshine.

- Frank, Home Counties, England.

they also have a five star restaurant and are only charged pennies for the meals they order,,,,,,,

..I refer to Gilbert & Sullivan's opera Iolanthe. There you will find all the information on the HoL you'll need. When W S Gilbert wrote this in the 19th century, it led to howls of outrage from the HoL. It would be great timing for this to return to the London stage - it would cheer everyone up and show the HoL up for what it is - a gravy train for elderly politicians with nothing else to do and do it very well.

- Joannie, London, England

Troughs/pigs spring to mind but will anything change I doubt it,we are too complacent. We should be shouting from the rooftops about some members of this august assembly to put a stop to their gravy train rip offs. Will the police take any action not on your life it would,nt be politically prudent.

The Lords provide a valueble backstop against kneejerk and often undemocratic laws New Labour have tried to rush through parliment in recent years. Expenses are abused on both sides of the house as we know and should be cleaned up, but I would be very worried if the Lords were not able to challenge parliament.

- Steve, Hereford

Nu Labor go away!

- Jacqueline, Hampstead, London

What self serving scum we now seem to have in the House of Lords!!

- Doff, filey uk

If an electrician has to travel 200 miles to do a job and stay over night,he does it.
He cannot, however claim expenses to do the job. So if you wish to be a Lord or a MP for that matter and your job is in London and you live elsewhere, thats your choice, it should not be for the tax payer to subsidise your traveling and accomodation, or second home expenses.

- Barbus, Liverpool

What are you doing to this country.?

- David,Chertsey, Chertsey.UK.

I used to be in favour of a 2nd house, as a safety valve to crazy decisions made in Parliament. Although the money involved per member is not that great, it still looks like a great wheeze and the cheapest alternative to an old peoples home in the country and from the ga-ga comments from many of its members and the fact an already pensioned old MP, they can still draw a few hundred quid, from just turning up each day. This is an insult and travesty to millions of ordinary pensioners. Get rid of them all, unless they want to serve the people and turn up for nix.

- Bondy, london

Which begs the question... why were they appointed in the first place? Reform can no longer be put on hold.

- Dhanraj, Basildon Essex

The House of Lords currently quite happily accommodates both a convicted arsonist, Lord Watson, and that bumptious perjurer, Lord Archer.
Once you manage to get your snout in that particular Westminster trough, if your a Freemason, you're in it for life.

- Frank, Bristol UK

These are all parasites who don't give a damn to the working classes in hardship !

- Joe, Swanley Kent

What is your exact methodology and sources in determining this list? I am not 100% sure that these figures stand up to scrutiny.

- Mike, New Zealand

GOOD POINT...

Its all a big tax payer funded racket.
But the common man is helpless, weaponless, and is unable to fight against the political elite that have taken over the country and re-instituted serfdom.

- Trunk, US

There has to be mobilisation against the MPs and these unelected peers who continue to grab as much as they can from the people of the UK. Time and time again we hear about incredible acts of gluttony as these people rob from the UK tax payer. When so many people in the UK are struggling to feed themselves and are being evicted, these privileged few are continuing to live a hedonistic lifestyle funded by the UK taxpayer.

I am so angry. This needs to stop. Now.

- The People, London, UK.

Why did you not point out that 8 of the highest claimants were Conservatives, 9 were Labour, and 8 were Liberal Democrats. Not much to choose between any of them. The real difference between Conservative peers and peers from the other parties is that only the Conservatives have an ex-convict (Lord Archer), and a serving prisoner (Lord Black) in the House of Lords.

- Val Daniels, Mijas Costa, Spain

I thought Labour was going to abolish the Lords; instead they seem to be taking every advantage of the gravy train. The sooner we have an elected upper chamber the better.

- John, London, UK

For some reason these lazy good for nothing spongers see this as their divine right, they have no shame and couldn't care less about pensioners, or anyone else, demonstrating. If they did care they wouldn't behave the way they do. I personally know one elderly peer who is amazingly adept at scrounging as much for free as he possibly can - and he is absolutely loaded. It makes me sick!

- Kathy, london

Why do we even have a House of Lords?

- Frederick, London

The country is in deep recession,we are all tightening our belts and these people are claiming every penny from our taxes they can get.We are encouraged to use energy saving lamps, turn the heating down and other ecconomical means while these "lords" are encouraged to behave in this despicable manner.I can sleep at night with a clear conscience can they?

- Gerald Diamond, Romford Essex

It would certainly not embarrass the gilded socks off the Lords if pensioners demonstrated. They have no shame.

- Peter Little, Wendover, England

Do we really need all these peers - they are clearly all on the gravy train and don't appear to be value for money. We have approximately 700 - SEVEN HUNDRED - Lords - it seems outrageous when we have a total population of 60 odd million compared with the approximately 300 million in the American population and they manage with 100 senators in their upper house!

- Barbara, Walton-on-Thames, England

Its always been the same but as per nothing will be done about it, certainly agree with Flys comment.

- Mike, London England

How many of these are in the "Old Boys Club"? (Freemasons are not required to declare their membership) They tend to serve each others interests first.

- Frank, Bristol

Expenses should be paid to reimburse money paid out. It is a farcical situation that MPs and Lords can claim a daily allowance and not even have to turn up to do a day's work.

The French wouldn't stand for it.

- Nobby Clark, Perth, the Scottish one

And that's not even including all the 'extras.' Lord Taylor of Blackburn has been a Lord for 30 years! A good ten year span after serious thoughts were being had about misbehaving lords. And he has been awarded an OBE and an MBE. After 20 years as a local councillor. Now he gets £330 per day attendance, has apparently enjoyed £400,000 in expenses and picks up £120,000 consultancy fees at the drop of an eyelid- plus other remuneration one may suppose. Smart fellow and clearly brighter than I am, suffering from tobacco withdrawal symptoms as I struggle on, looking in despair at my old age pension of £90 per week. Yes, that's £90 per week. The lowest in Europe. Our leaders need to do something about the fabric of our British society, before all we Old Age Pensioners take to the streets and invade Parliament Square, embarrassing the gilded socks off them, waving huge banners saying 'Bring in the UN.' And we've got a list of those who'll be first in the tumbril. Oh yes.

- John Problem, Hackney Wick, London, UK

Can R.F. and all the other people suggesting an elected Lords explain why they think that would be any better? Haven't we had a constant stream of sleeze stories from Parliament as well? I'm sure that if we broke down the list of highest claiming peers that the non-hereditary, government appointed ones would be the majority so surely the pproblem has been exacerbated by appointees. At least the Lords do not get a salary as well.

- Mark, London

So the best-value Lord is a Hereditary Peer.

Looking down the list I see that Baroness Smith of Gilmorehill - whose qualifications for sitting in the Upper House were (a) being the widow of former Labour Party Leader John Smith and (b) a minor champion of Scottish Arts - claimed £60,000 for tabling no questions, speaking in no debates and only even bothering to vote 22% of the time.

Lets see a parallel list of the attendence rates under the old peerage system: it would be interesting to see how they compare. Also, more details about WHO the HECK these people are . . . ?!

- Roz, Chamonix, France - if it really matters!

It may be better for their Lordships to be charged a daily attendance fee, in place of the present allowance and expenses they receive. This could sort out those who really wish to provide public service from those intent on milking the system.

- Duyfken, UK

The latest revelations clearly indicate an immediate need to abolish the house of lords and halt this gravy train in it's tracks. The upper house should consist of elected (honest) members who are accountable to the tax payer. This might help to restore the confidence of the electorate. The current government is seen for what it is - corrupt and dishonest. If found guilty of corruption then the four lords must be severely punished. Justice must not just be done - it must be seen to be done.

- R.F., Yorks, UK

the scum always floats to the surface and right now there is a lot on scum on the pint better known as the UK.
